No situation is hopeless, keep hoping for better days! You may be so near to where you want to be. Don’t let your current state of weakness or miserable situation to cloud your judgment. Yet it could be nearer than what you think. You might be so near to capturing your victory, but even then you ought to be consistent and keep on going! Never show your back to the “golden crown.”Īt a time when you are uncertain and you lack strength, you may perceive the aspired goal to be so far away. Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.
So, don’t give up even if you fail many times. You may succeed the next time you try again. Stay patient, even if you feel that people are overtaking you, just stay calm and trust yourself. Learn from the hard moments and apply the lessons to create sunny futures. When things go awry, take a break but NEVER GIVE UP!Īt an amusement park, the most electrifying and stimulating rides are labyrinthine rollercoasters with twists and turns! Similarly, the ride of life is hair-rising, hence it is exhilarating! Sometimes it goes up, and sometimes down. Note that the poet says “when” and not “if” because he want to affirm that things will be dolorous and you need to face it head on!
Just like how roads aren’t always straight, even the occasions of life aren’t ship-shaped, they can go uphill. Sometimes our plans go well and life continues as we want it to, but sometimes things do not work out as wished. The poet starts off by clearing stating that things aren’t always a breeze. Wasn’t this poem a breath of motivation? I loved it! It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit. So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit– When he might have captured the victor’s cup,Īnd he learned too late when the night slipped down,Īnd you never can tell how close you are, When he might have won had he stuck it out ĭon’t give up though the pace seems slow– When the funds are low and the debts are high,Īnd you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, “You may succeed with another blow.When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, It’s hard when you’re in the moment - but stick with it, just keep hacking away at it. Once you start to do the things that logically solve the problem, usually your emotions will follow your actions and start to lift. Just ignore the crushing feeling you have that it’s not worth it or it’s too hard. But sometimes when our spirits are down, we must cling to logic and reason. One helpful thing I’ve gleaned from life experience: often, doing what is needed doesn’t feel good. It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit. When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, It tells of a very deep truth of life - don’t quit! My grandmother sent me this poem when I was a teenager.
